A lot of the discussion here is very future-oriented. We are always predicting doom or offering solutions that are not immediate (i.e. winged bears...). In my own work I am fascinated with the ideas of people such as Philip K Dick, Marshall McLuhan, Syd Mead, etc. (not really considered futurologists). These people deal with the mid-range future; predictions for the next ten years tend to sound like investment tips, whereas predictions for anything more than a century in the future tend to be completely fantastic, which I find less interesting. But the mid-range future is a wonderful grey area of where imagination and rational thought can interact on an equal footing.
I'd like to hear what you all think life will be like in 25 years. I'd like to hear about daily life, the environment, media, relationships, art, music, entertainment, technology, global politics, etc. etc. etc. As a point of reference, think about what predictions people would have made for 2007 in 1982. I'm not looking for a comprehensive view or practical explanations, just what you happen to be interested in. I am asking this question with an eye on how these ideas inform our current trajectory.
