Britney Spears

Ok, this is way off topic (Hi everyone, by the way, glad to see that this is back), but it's three in the morning here, I can't sleep because the dudes across the street are fucking around with their cars, and so I've been reading comments on perezhilton about britney spears' performance.

I found this particular comment:

"i DONT think it was THAT horrible. it was like, semi - lame, but not completely lame. GIVE her a break, what do you expect from a woman who has two kids & shaved her head in public"

I just thought that this was a real gem, worth taking the time to consider. I especially like how he ends that last sentence. Yes, it's hard raising two kids, and come on people, this girl shaved her head in public -- what DO you expect. I mean the PRESSURE that public head-shavers go through....

If the Progressives are searching for their argument, I think this is it. Forget about rasising wages. Health care? Baaa. The real problem in america is, what are we doing for the public head shavers?

everyone should check out this series of documentaries:
http://tv-links.co.uk/listings/9/4694

seriously - they pertain very heavily to the interests of everyone on the board...greg, you especially, i think would enjoy them...
while not super-heavy on the academic/theoretical tip, it's still pretty illuminating, and it's nice to see exactly how the current mechanisms of societal control developed.
edward bernays is an evil, evil man...

and then, you can follow up with this:
http://quicksilverscreen.com/ipb/index.php?showtopic=42332

(the first part is the best, talking about jim channon's government-supported plans to build an army of warrior-monks who could walk through walls, and carried lambs into battle)

Oddly enough I had just watched some of this documentary on stage6 recently, and actually just found out about tv-list.co.uk like YESTERDAY (seriously), so you're timing is pretty freaky. Thanks for these links, I wanted to see the rest of the episodes.

One minor quibble:

They say "politicians on the Left, in both america and great britian" and show blair and clinton. Which is weird because the Left in Great Britain is actually the right in america (no, that's not a joke about the way they drive, it's just that the Left party in GB is more similar to the american conservative right)...
