Thee EPN could probably use something as tangible & monkey-brained as this: 4 songs from the past month or two, each written without fourthought/largely improvised with no regard for the future, sustainability, morality. Lyrical subject matter addresses the issues of hanging out, being bummed out, being broke, and dying soon. The first two ["My Money" & "So Low"]are my first efforts recording "band" instruments entirely solo. I set up a microphone in the corner of a room wired into the magical "Garageband" and started hitting a few skins (which i cant really do). the song structures rely completely on the whimsical drumming. most everything else is run through my guitar amp and kept optimally sloppy. The second pair ["Good Day To Die" & "Adios"] are the fruits of 2 afternoons w/ Timmy "Slyme" Abbondelo in my basement in Portland, reproduced here without permission. Similar Garageband tomfoolery.
Each is a failed experiment that I like to think I'd do 'much better' were i to start all over. Of all the fudges and anomalies inherent in a basement/budget recording that I love, my own recordings always seem to suffer the more bogus glitches (ie total vocal 'pops', total rhythmic boofs, erratic levels & the inability to sing). *DISCLAIMER - this are rock n roll songs. those constituents of thee epn who "hate" the ramones may have a tough time AS THEY SHOULD.
