About how it's working. I am overjoyed that mad people are jamming on this joint. I hope all yall keep up and post your noise out real soon. Don't forget to RSS EPN so you can keep current. wiki rss if you're not cool.
I wanted to ask yr opinions something about the format (tho I'm not the admin - Henry is, so he is the big bossman). ---
In a crit, at least at the art crits I was used to at Bard, you know, there were faces in front of you and you were in public so you didn't say as much as you might sitting in your underwear in your room typing on a killbox, where you can really follow your tangents to the far reaches of the galaxy. So I just wanted to ask people what kind of atmosphere they wanted - like, is it cool to really criticize someone's work, or do we try to keep it mostly friendly? Me, I usually prefer the former, and I think that if someone wants kidglove treatment, they should just say so in the post. Cause you know, other times I just want to show something, and I don't want to hear boo.
The actual main issue I want to voice is that it is weird showing your work when people are anonymous - or have weird nicknames (I guess I'm guilty, albeit tranparently so). When someone makes a noise about my bit, I get weirded out if I don't know who it is. What we gonna do about that, or is it cool the way things are? Please address this issue folks...
Henry - I wish we could get a "recent posts" thing up on the sidebar, like I said. Anybody know how to do this?
And everyone should send Henry their links so we can can have more nexus flow. I'm talking yr sites, blogs, whatev. And keep the posts coming in diverse forms.
And I was working outside without a shirt on today, suckers.

yeah. I want it to work more like a feedback tool for people. The people on this blog are doing cool things, and have given some good advice. More... MORE!!
Also, I put up my picture, which sits next to my posts. FACE-2-FACE!
How you do dat?
well...yeah....there are two techinical questions i have...if anybody knows how to answer these...let me know...i would like a way to alert people to recent comment posts....and also the format of image posting is wacked...
yes....people email me links you want put up...although i dont think i will put them up until you are an active member AKA post something of yr own...
yes...i want people to do what it takes to get good input....dont hold back...but also i think people are still getting used to it....i have yet to hear from most of the people on the members list...i mean...im glad so many people joined...but also i am wondering why you joined if you werent going to participate...i mean its still early...but there is a lot of work up now....lots to comment on....go ahead....dont be scared..
farley...i think people should be allowed to have whatever name they want...i mean at this point everybody on the page is connected somehow...oh well...this shit is still young...
No. I agree people should have whatever screen name they want to, but I think people should put some kind of clue as to who they are on their "user page" or whatever.
I am just interested in how people feel about anonymity - it's interesting because, well, on some random website you can be 100% anonymous and say whatever you want, no matter how offensive or poorly thought out (oh so extremely guilty), but with your friends you usually try to at least think through the implications of what you say. But on this website it's like your friends, but they are anonymous.
It doesn't bother me, I just thought it was interesting.
As for people who haven't put something up, it doesn't matter. People will put something up when they have something they want to share. I know I go through lots of times when I don't have anything I want to show people. in fact, those are often the times I like to look at other people's work the most. So i feel like the more people who join the better.
Whatev, I talk to damn much.
I would say that any type of critisicm is welcome -- and whether or not it's harsh doesn't bother me. In fact I would rather have everyones brutal honesty. Obviously anything bordering on being pure flame messages should be moderated.
My beer is on fire ---
H- I think we are actually going to have to figgur out ourselves how to put a "recent posts" thing on...
Farley,
what the eff-gwazdor are you talking about? Isn't the 'previous posts' sidebar the same thing as a 'recent posts'. Please explain.
well i think what we want is something that says when there is a new comment on a post...because its hard to go back and forth and try to remember what is old and what is new....thats probably something thats very difficult to do...and i wasnt really worried about people posting...although it looks like more people have posted yay! i was more talking about comments...i understand that people cant post stuff riht away...i mean its stupid to post just for the sake of posting...but i think people should visit the page and give they opinions....and i wasnt trying to be mean...i just WAS being mean...by accidental...
Yeah - cause of looking for new comments is a pain, but comments are the apotheogenesis of hits.
Of fabrecious manefestations.
There is an option to have the blog administrator recieve email updates when comments are posted. Now, depending on whether or not it specifies which thread has been commmented on, one could write a script which parses the email into XML and then plugs said data into a flash module on the blogs main page.. H, turn on that option in the settings for a day or two and send me a forward of the emails so I can see what the data looks like. Unfortunately, all of the smart programmers here at EA have left for the weekend, but I'm sure one of them is capbable of doing something like that -- maybe I can get them to help..
** Another option would be: put in a dummy email adress on my server and forward the info to anyone who wanted to join the list.. then, whoever is on the list would get forwarded the updates -- not really a bad option and a WHOLE lot easier to implement. _G
