Two field recording pieces

Here are two little pieces made from field recordings. The first is made from cricket sounds and put out of phase with some stereo effects. It doesn't really work that well. The second is made from room tone. I recorded myself in ten spaces, then walked through a door to get a new room tone. It's about the transtion. No, it's about layering the timbres to create an exagerrated shift. Anyway, just thought I'd add more material to the EPN. Here!

i actualy really like the first one (brief underwear)!!...there are some cool really high end frequencies in there, too...i'd like to see the effects be less dramatic and intense, and the piece expanded to like, 4-6 minutes or so...that would be pretty sweet...

Birds chirping and other environmental noises are much louder than this music - therefore I can't have much of an opinion. The first one seemed kind of magical tho - my ears were like "something's happening" - like things moving around in the air - but then it was over. I agree with TCD - it is too short to get into it (but that's perfect for downloading by dial-up).
These things should prob be listened to on a good system - but that makes me think - One of the things that defines american pop music is that it has to sound good on a car system - and like the smart thing Henry said - the prefered method of transportation in the United States is the Stereo. The head contractor at the site I'm at, Patricio, he always show up to the site in his pickup blairing Merengue bass lines (which are pretty recongnizable - it's almost cartoon psychedelic - hot!). But at music school people always listen to music on good systems in quiet rooms. It would be best if there was a class taught driving a truck through a construction site or something.
But I like the magic phasing and I'll give it another listen.
