Coup D'Blah

dont you think the EPN needs a shot in the arm? i think the main problem is that people dont really check it...and the posting has been slow going too....as i dont really have anything to post myself right now, and my big brains are really making smart brain grapes either...i think i will just ask everybody what to do....here are some brain grapes:
fun pizza newsletter (that shows up in yr email inbox)
fun pizza exhibition page (with submissions and everything!)
fun pizza contest (thnx TCD)
fun pizza celebrity interviews
uh....obvious i ran out of ideas...but i think those are pretty good...maybe...

I like the idea of an exhibition page - how would it be different than a reg webpage?
I think we need more members - like I said - I think we should give a 50% discount to anyone who signs up one (just one!) of their friends.
We need to have daily or close-to-daily updates if we want people to check. That will keep people interested. Perhaps assignments can be a way of doing this? I think it is better to have frequent mid-qual posts than infrequent hi-qual posts. Of course, the quality needs to stay at current levels or better (it'll help when I post less).
I think the idea of a challenge is more appropriate than a contest. That way everyone can judge for themselves and it would be about originality, not about likeability. But perhaps you disagree?
BTW - we should do a "call for content - April" post... Henry?
So what are some ideas for specific challenges or contests? How can they be unclassroomlike?

i think people check the epn - i encounter members in real life, and they do talk about it. i think a lot of people are just scared of posting. which is silly, because we're all idiots here.
more members is a good idea anyway, tho.

exhibition page is definitely a great idea. greg? wanna throw something together?

i keep thinking about posting an 'assignment', and then get confused. what are people most likely to respond to? i assume something broad, vague, general, fun, is best to start with...? i thought it might be funny/fun to start w/ "wizards", because they seem to be regarded with such ambivalence around here, and the topic is broad and simple enough to not be intimidating. but maybe it's too stupid - it's hard for me to tell.

it is definitely call for content time. that always drums up activity. i'll upload more weird bad music.

I've been thinking about the exhibition page for a little while now. I think things that people have written that are particularly good should go up there as well (not just written works, but I mean things that people have written on threads on this blog). And obviously all media is accepted for entry. Maybe we should have people post the finished piece here, and we can provide final comments and than if no one has any objections it goes into the exhibition page? Just an idea..

It should have its own name... like the brick oven or margarita. Ohhh, I like that: margarita.. What do you think?

I think you should make the column of text wider so that it can be read more easy. I'll teach you how, but it's pretty easy to do in "templates" or whatever that's called.

yeah, that's a good idea - and decrease the size of the text on the menu bars on the right...

ok...yes...teach me master....i woud like to improve on the look of the page...but actually...i dont give a big crap...although you are suggesting fuctionality things so...teach me master....one thing i found to be fun was that only us four posted on this section...and also when you look to effs choose a leader post...take a gander...whatever....i think all the ideas are good ideas...and also the cool thing is that the most capable people came up with ideas and they are all different....like greg thinks exhibition....so greg: make an exhibition....tcd make a contest...eff:....keep posting 30 things a day....but yeah...seriously....eff is the master blogger....skillz...improve this blog....i think the main thing we need is participation...like there are a lot of people who have yet to comment or post...maybe we should come up with a master post....like its the master...and everybody has to contribute something...like...at least one letter...and it will be up for a week...and then everybdy who hasnt posted at least one letter will get a pizza warning....or a "pizza demerit" and christian death called it...and by the way.....those are bad....i just think we need to have like a membership drive....like...i post of EPN....but i sound like an idiot all the time...but i dont GAF...so if you are reading this and you have yet to post or comment....at least comment about what a dumbass i am....something....or better yet...post some of that weed you were smoking last night....and for the record...any expansion is a good expansion....ok....ready?..............GO!

I think the idea of a demerit is the dumbest thing I ever heard. I think we should not do that.

I mean, I know where you are coming from, but it's too schooly for me.

I think we should play it like this. Everyone has to send a picture of themselves naked to Henry, who then puts clothes made of electricity on us using photoflash. And then we have to stand around. Then if we are really bad we have to take off one item. Which is doubly bad because there's no heat in cyberspace cause of it's a hologram?

I'm glad then too Henry that you are into three dots...

I think we should start a delivery service.

Increasing the width of the paragraphs is probably not the best idea. Maybe slightly, but the wider stuff is the harder it is to read. But I don't really think any of the problems lie with what the page looks like right now. I think people are unsure as to what they're allowed to post. We need to communicate that the rules are very loose here, and that every one is welcome, etc. We should also explain the pizza in the title more. Like, I'm not suggesting we put big pepperoni slices in the background or anything like that. Some people I've talked to are afraid because we sound hyper critical and they don't want to be torn apart. I think others are lazy or busy. But fuck, I'm busy as hell, and this thing is really important to me. Hmmmm. I don't think we're that far from really nailing what this whole thing is about, I think there has been a lot of good participation so far. We need to encourage things across the spectrum. Obviously we can't go too far off topic. Ok, I will keep thinking people pizza.

I don't care. The wider the weirder.
If you put a pizza in front of me and I WILL FUCKING TEAR IT APART.

ok...i like the idea of the loosening the posts...obviously more posts by more people is better....

There are so many things to read and respond to, I think it's easy to feel overwhelmed if you've been away for a few days. Maybe someone has made this exact comment but I wouldn't know because I haven't had a chance to read everything for real.

Henry said...

so is the answer to the problem of feeling overwhelmed less posts, or more posts? i mean i think it could go either way...im inclined to say more posts is always better...even if someone has been away for a few days, then there are fresh posts and people can just look over the older posts..i think its easier to jump into a new post that to latch onto one with a buttload of comments.
