Extraordinary Experiences

so i was just sitting outside...here in maine...as some of you know i live on a lake..which is still frozen...and i heard this cracking boom that continued and spread out over the entire lake...the ice cracking...it was pretty incredible...so i was wondering if people had experiences that they felt were unique/once-in-a-lifetime/supernatural/awesome...shit like that...like some hollywood type shit...i think sometimes something happens to you and you realize the signifigance of it...even though the rest of the world was alseep.

Dawg, that's beautiful.

Last year, I had a view of the mountains from the place where I was living. I was sitting outside on the porch drinking some beer, and these huge clouds started to roll in over the mountain. I sat and watched as a huge snow storm unloaded on to the peaks. It was incredible -- I could actually see the snow building up. I watched for five hours. It felt like I could touch it, it seemed so close. And it was such a clear day.

A couple summers ago, I was driving to work in Henderson, NY and I saw a pasture that looked at first like it was covered in snow, but it was actually an absurdly large flock of birds. There were thousands of birds huddled in this field. In one sense, it was a totally mundane occurrence, but the magnitude of it made it seem surreal.

g-reg's reflection reminded me of the time I spent 5 hours outside the LA County Jail. Every hour or so a crowd could be seen gathering in a glass stairwell, forming a line down to the exit that would stretch back several stories up to the prison. After a glorified buzz sounded, the door would automatically open and men in street clothes rushed out into the street. The first time this happened I was rapidly circled by a crowd, all after my cigarettes. I bummed the entire pack. How could I refuse them? After this I waited on the other side of the road - bumming smokes myself. If there was a bus the inmates could have taken once they'd been released straight to Chuck E. Cheese, I'm sure they all would have gone. I've never seen a more jubilant bunch.

and the moral of that story is: chuck e cheese is awesome.

the last magical experience i had was when my cool dude cat caught a pigeon that was hanging out in the hallway and ran through the house with it, and everyone was screaming (and everyone was already dressed up in tropical-zombie outfits because of simone's fault) and the pigeon kept escaping but then the cat would catch it again and then someone caught the pigeon and threw it out the window and i felt really bad for the cat cuz i wanted him to eat the pigeon.

That's hillarious.

It is sad though how the cat didn't get to eat the pigeon -- I mean, he caught it, it probably meant a lot to him.
